| This is software to synchronize your laptop. Software to Synchronize Your Laptop Computer PC Program to Copy Exactly to for from Your Laptop Synchronize Your Laptop as Many Folders as You Want Sync Laptop, Go on Trip then Sync Laptop Again Software to Synchronize Your Laptop and PC Synchronize Your Laptop Before and After Your Trips Synchronize Your Notebook Before and After Trips Synchronize Your Notebook with Files You Pre-Selected The basic idea behind Sync Laptop is, you use your PC all day or all week, then you have to make a road trip, so, you copy all of your files to your laptop. You are using your laptop the whole time you are gone, now you need to copy your current files on the laptop back to the PC. If you have any problems with communicating with other computers in the network, disable all software firewalls and try it, if it works while the software firewall is disabled, then you will need to configure the software firewall to allow share folders. We recommend you use a hardware firewall instead of software firewalls anyway. The external hardware firewalls are generally much faster! You may already have the hardware firewall such as a Linksys Router. If you need to keep the software firewall, then follow the venders instructions to allow shared folders to work! You could browse the PC and copy and paste them as you find them, or you could just run Sync Laptop. Sync Laptop will copy everything in the "My Documents" folder for the user in question. You can configure Sync Laptop to copy any other folders or files that you wish. For example: you can copy Favorites, Desktop, Cookies, and such but the default setting is to only copy "My Documents" for the given user. We recommend if you are using more than one machine such as a laptop and a PC, you create the exact same user and password on each machine in question. You can also use it to copy files stored anywhere on the hard drive. You may control the number of days to go back and look for changes. A common number is 1, 1 will give you all the changes made today and yesterday. 3 days would get you over the weekend. 7 days will get you through the last week. 31 days for a month. And so on... It is designed to only copy changed files for the number of days that you determine, but if you type 3650, it will go back 10 years and work fine. Sync Laptop actually creates a batch file called c:\occc\synclaptop1.bat. Sync Laptop uses the X-Copy from DOS to actually copy the files. When you need to synchronize your files over and over, Sync Laptop can save you hours! Because you can pre-configure the files that will be copied, you will not have to wonder "did I copy all of the files this time?' If you have a PC or a laptop that you need to keep synchronized on a daily basis, Sync Laptop is a cool tool to use for this. Using Sync Laptop's command line options, you can use it from pretty much any outside software. When Sync Laptop starts, without any command line options, you will see a Configure button, Copy Selected Files to Destination button, Number of Days to go Back text field, Map Laptop Drive and Save To text field. You must have a letter mapped to the laptop in question. To setup or read the current configuration click the Configure button. To remove an item from the list of files and folders, highlight the item you want to delete, and hit the delete key. To add an entire folder to the list to be copied, Double click the folder in question, then click the Select Entire Folder button. To add a single file, double click the folder(s) in question, then highlight the file name, click the Select Single File, or you can click the Select Fill to Always Copy (even if not modified). The latter here is very useful for copying files that do not get modified, but you need to have them with you. After you have made all of the configuration changes, you can click Save Configuration to keep the changes. Sync Laptop automatically exits when it is done. To start the copy, click the Copy Selected Files to Destination. After you return from your trip you run Sync Laptop from the Laptop to copy the most current files from the laptop to the PC.
