| The Fastest Way to Convert Room Mesurements to Square Feet for the Whole House. Type in the name of the room you are measuring. Type in the width as inches or feet and inches. If you are going to use inches, just put the number alone. If you are going to use feet and inches you can put a ' to mark feet and " to mark inches, or you can just enter it as: 5 8 (the first number is feet and second is inches) Type in the height using the same rule as the width. You can type inches only or feet space inches. If you hit a return or Add Room button, you will see the room name go blank, the mesurements go blank, and the room you just entered will be on the List of Rooms on the right side the window. As you add rooms you will see at the top of the List of Existing Rooms a total square feet for this building so far. If you click the show display button, you can drag you will be taken to a graphical representation to scale of your rooms. At this point, you can drag them around one at a time to create a real building layout.
